Toronto, Canada (September 22, 2016) – The Canadian Solar Industries Association (CanSIA) and Hannover Fairs (Canada), Inc. announced that the Solar West 2016 conference program will focus on a wide range of Western Canadian topics of interest to the North American and international solar energy community.

In particular, the conference will spotlight Alberta’s recent announcement to procure 5000 megawatts (MW) of additional renewable energy by 2030. The Solar West conference brings energy industry executives and professionals from around the world together to network and discuss the latest climate change issues and solar energy outlook.

“Alberta is North America’s next big solar market,” said John Gorman, President and CEO of CanSIA. “With a strong commitment from Government and a world-class solar resource, it’s the ideal new environment for both solar companies and traditional energy companies to grow their businesses, whether focused on utility-scale, residential or anywhere in between. Energy executives who want to be market leaders and take advantage of this fast growing market will find that Solar West is the best place to secure information and build relationships,” added Gorman.

As part of this year’s Solar West conference program, Shannon Phillips, Minister of Environment and Parks in the Alberta Government, is invited to present the opening morning keynote speech on October 6, 2016. Solar West will address details about the technology, creation of new jobs, and the Government of Alberta’s timeline for the province’s commitment to create an additional 30 percent of its electricity from renewable resources.

“Solar West 2016 is the best global showcase to experience this growing renewable energy market up close,” said Larry Turner, President of Hannover Fairs (Canada), Inc., the Deutsche Messe subsidiary and organizer of Solar Ontario, Solar West and Solar Canada in partnership with CanSIA.

Solar Canada 2016 will be held from December 5-6 at the Metro Toronto Convention Center North Building.
