So this is happening: A start-up company that originated from the halls of MIT Media Lab, is installing solar-powered benches in the city of Boston, Massachusetts.

These “soofas”–as they are called, are going to provide more than a place to sit; they will charge gadgets, track noise levels, and watch the weather.

In the above video, the Mayor Walsh of the city of Boston sits down on a solar-powered bench with Sandra Richter, the designer of Soofa.
