Tesla to triple battery deployments this year

It’s clear that there is a huge opportunity in large-scale energy storage

Tesla said in a letter to its shareholders that due to the success of a recently installed project in South Australia, the company has seen an increase in demand for its Powerpacks.

“It’s clear that there is a huge opportunity for us in large-scale energy storage,” wrote Tesla in the letter.

The project, a 100 megawatts of energy storage installed in 100 days’, was a bet by Elon Musk via Twitter.

Tesla achieved that goal and built the world’s biggest battery farm next to a wind farm near Jamestown in South Australia.

Tesla has also built large battery farms on the Hawaiian island of Kauai, on the island of American Samoa, in Connecticut, and on multiple sites in California.
