Price for silicon solar PV modules slipped by 0.33% last week

SeeNews | Oct 3, 2014 – The average spot price for silicon solar photovoltaic (PV) modules slipped by 0.33% in the week ended October 1 to USD 0.608 (EUR 0.480) per watt, according to data by research firm PVinsights.

The spot price for a thin-film module also marked a decline, falling by 0.15% to USD 0.645 per watt.

No change was registered in PV cell prices in the seven days under review. Multi-crystalline silicon (multi-Si) cells traded at USD 1.349 per 156-sq-mm piece and the price for mono-crystalline silicon (mono-Si) cells of the same size averaged at USD 1.909.

The spot price for Taiwan-made polysilicon cells also remained flat at USD 0.321/watt.

Moving up the supply chain, the price for multi-si wafers was flat at USD 0.855 per 156-sq-mm piece. Mono-si wafers of the same size were selling at the same price as in the previous seven days, USD 1.193.

The average spot price for PV-grade polysilicon, the main raw material for the photovoltaics industry, remained unchanged at USD 20.580 per kg, as did the price for second-grade polysilicon, which stood at USD 20.500 per kg.
